Programs

Stopping vacancy before it starts — and stabilizing it where it has.

Each of our programs targets a different point in the life of an at-risk St. Louis property.

01

Secure & Stable

Professional care for vacant buildings, so they stay safe and salvageable.

  • Securing and boarding vacant buildings to code
  • Cleanouts and debris removal
  • Light stabilization, including tarping and winterization
  • Monthly monitoring with photographic condition reports for owners and the City

02

Prevention Desk

Helping owners keep their homes before vacancy happens. We address the four most common causes:

  1. Cause 1

An owner who can no longer keep up

    Code-violation abatement help.

  2. Cause 2

Tangled titles after a death in the family

    Beneficiary-deed and estate navigation clinics.

  3. Cause 3

Money snowballing — especially property taxes

    Tax-relief enrollment, payment-plan guidance, and repair-fund connections.

  4. Cause 4

    A temporary absence becoming permanent

House-watch service during hospital stays, rehab, or other absences.

03

Asset Recovery Navigation

A free service for owners and heirs facing a tax sale.

  • Coaching through the tax-sale redemption year
  • Helping owners and heirs claim surplus funds they are owed
  • Always free of charge

  • Turning cleared vacant lots into community gardens

Coming next

Supportive Housing

A future phase will lease homes as sober-living and supportive housing for veterans and people exiting homelessness — run on separate housing funding, consistent with our principle that labor and housing stay separate.
